The old Calvert Industries site appears to be owned now by Waste Management (WM). WM has put in a permit request to "build 5 industrial buildings" on the site. The county lists the impact to county roads as a concern.
You have probably seen the accumulation of WM carts and bins on the site. At this time there is little information about WM plans for the site. This area is currently in the Urban Industrial zone part of Maltby so any approved industrial use on the site would most likely not require public input.
There is a permit request in with the county to build "5 industrial buildings" on the site. The publicly posted site notice, previously on a side street and difficult to see, was requested to be moved onto Broadway so that it is more visible by a Maltby resident. It is still a little difficult to see as it sites on the North corner of the fence surrounded by bushes and other signs. The current permit information on the county web site lists the Scott Whitcutt as the project manager. The permit is open to written comments until July 16.
The permit also states that one of the important things to review is the impact on county roads. This impact of Waste Management vehicles may concern some Maltby residents. Broadway, which would service the WM traffic, is also serving the newly constructed warehouse facility just up the street. WM traffic would likely use SR 524 (Maltby Rd) - Yew Way or SR 522-Bostain Rd to access Broadway which are already under stress at peak commute times.
This is a section of the county Herald planning notice for June 25th.
