    Noise

    A member wrote--

I joined Maltbynow.org yesterday after finding out about the Waste Management site. A friend of ours in Montare has just told us - months too late.

I am hoping others can join together to help control the noise coming from both the new warehouses & the noise from the current waste management site. We haven't been able to pin down who it is although we are pretty sure it's the warehouses - they are making the most god awful banging, scraping, grinding noises... not to mention the back-up beeping sounds - ALL HOURS of the night. Last night (as the air gets cooler the sound carries & is much louder) they were making metal grinding sounds and the back-up beeper comes on less than every 30 seconds. We can hear it during the day too but when you are trying to sleep it's 1000 times worse.

I could hear it until I finally fell asleep - about 12:30am. They do this just about every day the past couple of weeks... and it's more noticeable with the cooler evenings. It's going to be far worse in the winter. Even now I can hear the stupid back-up beeps with a couple (maybe 10) seconds between when they start & stop. What could they possibly be doing that it's so constant... all day & much of (if not all) of the night.

We can't be the only ones affected by this terrible noise. Have you heard from others? IS there not some law that prohibits this in a residential area? We've been talking about having to move... but we love it here.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. All I hear is vrooom... beep beep beep beep... vrooom... beep beep beep beep.... vrooom... beep beep beep beep... Sometimes it's just the beep beep beep beep... right now... and all hours of day & night.

    Re: Noise

There is a general policy document that describes what the boundaries between the urban area and the rural area. I am slowly making my way through it but it "sounds" as if that policies are being broken by the noise. When I find something more, I will post it here.
