The vandalism stopped this fall when five young men from the Maltby area were caught destroying property in Montare. We know that their misdeeds extended to many other areas because the vandalism has stopped in the surrounding area. However, there have been a rash of break-ins over the past few months and it seems to be getting more frequent. Here are some reports from surrounding areas.
6/24/09 Burglary
Burglary reported on 197th and Hwy 9 on Wednesday this week. It occurred during the daytime hours. Anyone with information should contact the police – per previous recommendations. Again, someone was apprehended in the Easter burglary so your help can be invaluable.
6/1/09 Robbery in Montare
Please be aware that a garage was broken into on 74th Drive SE, Saturday night. The garage was left open so the 'criminals' went through their things in the garage and in their cars. If you saw any suspicious people in the neighborhood last night please file a report with the police and let us know. Lock your cars and check your garage doors!
5/10/09 Easter robbery
Just an update to let you know that people were apprehended in the Horse country robbery that occurred on Easter Sunday afternoon. Some of the items stolen have been recovered.
Fall 09
I don't have all the details, but a house on 201st Street off of Downs Road was completely cleaned out when a truck drove into the garage and just loaded up everything.
Winter 09
A van was broken into in the Summit. A window was broken and some ski clothes stolen.
Summer 08
An outboard motor was stolen off a boat in the Summit. Another neighbor in the Summit had some boat equipment stolen off his boat. Jet skis were stolen from the driveway of a neighbor in Highland Vista (I believe, twice).
I'm sure a lot more has happen that was not reported. Keep an eye out and call 911 if you see any suspicious activity.
