Maltby Community Meeting with Dave Somers on July 27, 2009 at the Community Club

A call went out to the Maltby Community on June 4, 2009 asking for volunteers to establish a concerned citizens group who could meet once a month to get the community organized and make our voices heard at the County and State levels.  We are naming the Maltby Community the "Maltby Neighborhood Alliance" (MNA) and the 19 community members who have volunteered to give their time and energy to meet once a month and work on specific projects, "The Maltby Council".  Anyone can join the Maltby Council, but members are expected to volunteer some time and attend most of the meetings.  The Councils vision is to represent the Maltby Neighborhood Alliance (all concerned citizens) and have a bigger voice in County decisions made in the Maltby area.  The Council will seek citizens input and disseminate information mostly through the MaltbyNow web site.  All concerned citizens are invited to the meetings with the County Representatives, and are encouraged to observe the Council meetings.   The Council does not want to leave anyone out.  We are defining the "Greater Maltby Area" as any resident that may be affected by the development in and around the Maltby Urban Growth Area.  This may include traffic, air and ground pollution (aquifers), noise, bright lights, ugly business sites, etc.  Maltby area residents are encouraged to provide their input and ideas on this site or to me.

The Council has met twice to date (once with Dave Somers and another with just the community members).  At the last meeting on July 8, we assigned several of the open Permit Applications to board members.  These individuals will track the progress of the Application and report back to the Council.

The next meeting is Monday, July 27 from 6-7:30 PM at the Maltby Community Club, 8711 206TH ST SE.  This meeting is with Dave Somers, who will have representatives from The Dept of Public Works (traffic), Code Enforcement, and Permits.
